Dr Nicolò Matteo Luca Battisti is an Italian medical oncologist in London.

 

Work experience in Italy and in the United States

Dr Battisti graduated at the University of Milan, Italy in 2009. He also completed his specialist training at the University of Milan and National Cancer Institute of Milan, Italy in 2015. During his training, he worked at San Paolo Hospital of Milan, Italy, where he gained expertise in the management of most solid tumours. He spent the last year of training at the Senior Adult Oncology Program of the Moffitt Cancer Center of Tampa, Florida, USA, where he developed his interest in the management of solid tumours in older individuals and carried out a number of research projects in the area of geriatric oncology. After completing his training, he moved back to Milan where he worked as a medical oncologist at the Humanitas Cancer Centre of Rozzano, Milan, where he focused on gastrointestinal and cutaneous malignancies.

 

Work experience in UK

Dr Battisti moved to London in 2016 and he is a Consultant Medical Oncologist in the Breast Unit of the Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust. Dr Battisti gained a higher research degree (MD[Res]) in 2022 from the Institute of Cancer Research of London on the management of common tumours in older adults. In 2020 he was elected President-Elect of the International Society of Geriatric Oncology (SIOG) after being Chair of the Young Interest Group of Society since 2018. In 2020 he was appointed co-chair of the Inequality Focused Topic Network of the European Cancer Organisation.

Dr Battisti is an expert in the management of breast cancer and in geriatric oncology. He authored a number of papers and book chapters on the topics of breast, thoracic and geriatric oncology.
